Word To the Wise

Notice the title of this post isn't, "Word FROM the Wise."  No wise or sane person for that matter would buy this disgusting little packaged, pickled,  processed meat.  If you're ever at a gas station and come across a snack that has the dreadful 3 "P's" steer clear my friends and you'll be wiser than Danny and I.
Actually I didn't buy it.  My heart lies with the Kit Kats.  Steer clear of the 3 "P's" and you'll at least be wiser than Danny.  He is usually a wise person, minus the gravitational pull to room temperature convenience store meats.
He took one bite and almost began to vomit.  We couldn't even get Brutus to eat it.

Sushi Night, That's Right!

The Elder home enjoyed another Sushi night.  Our sticky rice turned out better than it ever has. YUM.

I LOVE lemon in my rolls.
We don't discriminate against sushi haters.  Every sushi night we've ever done, a Little Caesar's Hot N'Ready has also been present.
P.S. I know that if you have Facebook a lot of my blog seems like a boring week later repeat but I'm going to print it off into a book for our fam so it's kinda necessary:)

The Nori wasn't quite tight enough on this roll, but it still tasted really good.

That Ding Dong is about to be history.  Pun intended.
Danny enjoying a delicious Ginger Beer.
We're definitely still beginners but it makes for a really fun night.

Tales From the Crib

This cute little chunk just turned 10 months old.  She gets more personality everyday.
One of the best parts of my day is getting her out of her crib in the morning.  She is smiley, warm and cuddly.  Even if she only cuddles me for about 3 seconds, I'll take what I can get.
I love her messy bed head.
"I've been in here for 13 hours.  Get me out!"
Yes she is still sleeping between 12-14 hours every night.
She climbed on this so I had to take a pic.
She is still a really happy little thing.  She loves to laugh and thinks that the lamest stuff is hilarious, she is definitely my daughter.  I actually think she gets in these moods where she laughs at every little thing just like me.  Mother and daughter will be annoying Rox in no time:)
I'm not sure if this is premature or not, but recently she has learned to throw small tantrums.  She juts out her jaw, shakes her clenched fists and grunts until you give her what she wants which is usually gummy worm or some form of food.  It is actually a pretty comical thing to witness, she looks like she is going to pop or something.
P.S. She refuses to eat baby food now.  Between Ricker sneaking her Twinkies and Danny giving her what ever sugary substance he can sneak, why would she?
She does eat some healthy stuff, I promise. Her new favorite food is avocados.  Well, avocados and Twinkies.

This month she has also started walking!  It is so fun to watch her stumble around.
Most of her walking ends in a tumble but she gets right back up.
She insists on staying on her toes though!
The zoom in of her square feet.
She usually only takes about 5-6 steps and then falls.  Her record is 10.  She has walked across her room a couple of times.
I love how happy and proud of herself she gets when she walks.

We have what seems to be the start of a beautiful mullet on our hands.
We like to keep it classy.
Her love for books is apparent.
She still puts EVERTHING in her mouth.
Lately her sounds have seemed more advanced if that even makes sense.  I swear that babies really do speak their own language.  She doesn't only say "ba ba, ma ma" anymore.  She is constantly speaking what sounds like a language spoken by a Star Wars character or something.   Her favorite sound today was, "Bijja, bugga, bijja."  She already has the cutest voice I've ever heard.

We just love the Pearl Girl.

P.S. Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby??

Lil' Mama is Spicy!

Yes we finally got our Turkey Jerky back.
97 pounds of Turkey Jerky. If you missed that whole story you can play catch up here.

Ford's Meat Processing handled all of our jerky. They did/do a great job, but from a Public Relations stand point I seriously want to help them with just a few things that would make them seem a bit more appealing to the general public.  To give people a feel for Ford's, I would have to pull a few scenes from one of the "Saw" horror movies.
It's a maze down sketchy hallways and staircases.
"What that mell?"
The partners in crime.
It's Antonio!
As Antonio was loading the jerky into the car I tried, as sneakily as possible, to get a pic of his hand. I should pretty much go into investigative journalism huh?

I was successful but then he was wearing gloves! Dang. Speaking of which, how do gloves work if you only have 7 fingers?  Also, it might've been the wrong hand.  Maybe no on the investigative journalism.
Pearl already loves jerky.  She would suck on it all day if I let her.

On the drive home while eating a peice of jerky Millie says, "I'm eating Lil' Mama and she's spicy!"  Lil mama was what Millie called the smallest turkey in the group.  At least she has no trouble eating animals she has been in close quarters with or even named.

This week I told Millie, "You are just getting so big." She shreiked back, "No Wachel, don't eat me!!"  I guess she figured when things (turkeys, pigs) get big enough around the Smart and Elder homes we just eat them.  That or when chubby aunt Rachel gets hungry move out the way.

Roman did an awesome job on the labels.  My favorite part is, "Fattened on Zinnias and Peppers."  The turkeys seriously wreaked havoc on my paren'ts gardens.

But seriously the fruits of their labor... YUM.
As if we hadn't had our fill of turkeys.  We made this cute little gratitude turkey this week.  A few things Millie is thankful for: Mom, dad, cousins, Kashi, Pearl and Brutus, Pop Tarts, Dinosaurs, Preschool and Miss Misti.  I asked why I wasn't on the list and she said because I'm the turkey.  Is it just me or is Millie is giving very subtle hints about her true feelings towards me?
So for now the whole fam (and some lucky others) are enjoying Ricker and Cher's hard work and sacrifice.  It is seriously the best jerky ever.  So good I have eaten it for breakfast the last two days.  We also have several smoked turkeys coming our way for Thanksgiving AND Christmas.
Bring on the cranberry sauce Yo.

First Snowfall

This year's first real snowfall happened this weekend.  It was only supposed to snow about an inch, but Utah weather is always unpredictable and it ended up snowing 6 inches, 8 in Provo.  It was beautiful.

It made me so happy to wake up and see so much snow!  This snow excitement usually lasts until Christmas and then shortly after I want to move to St. George.  For now, I will continue to enjoy the white beauty.

It did look a bit odd to see my pumpkins covered in snow.

Side note: I tried to make my pumpkins look more "Thanksgivingish" and I ended up with Vegas Pumpkins.

Don't be fooled.  He may look like he is a devoted guard dog, but he hates the snow terribly.

He is sitting in front of the heater vent most of the time.
Friday night we spent the night in with Chamomile and Pomegranates. Brutus didn't leave Danny's side unless it was to set his snout on the heater vent.

Cheers to the first snowfall:)
