Lucky #13

Pearl is now 13 months old and is keeping me on my toes... more than normal.

-She loves to carry laundry baskets around the house, even though they're bigger than her.  But especially loves to throw everything out of the baskets leaving at least one article of clothing in every room of the house.

-She has decided she loves to go through all of our cupboards ripping every. single. thing. out until it's bare.  Suuuper fun to clean up twenty times a day.  She also does this with the bottom drawer of her dresser, my dresser and her toy bin.

-She has started "running" when she gets excited.  It's very uncontrolled and scares the heck outta me, but she's learning and I like that.

-She can say a few words now which is really fun!  She says "dad" all the time.  I was getting something out of our fridge while holding her and she pointed to a picture of Danny and squealed, "Da-daaa!"  She loves Danny so much.  She says mom sometimes, I wish more though!  She said, "Granpa" to my dad like 5 times this week! It was really cute.  Sometimes she says "yes."  It's my favorite word. She also says, "Hey," and treats every object she finds like a cell phone. She says a few other words but they are really sporadic and she will never say anything on cue.

-I have come to the hard realization that, at best, I am her 4th favorite person.  Her list: Danny, Millie, Brutus, Maaaybe me?

-She has also started giving kisses.  She willingly gives them to Danny, but has only given them to me at 5 a.m.  Which is still cute, but it's at 5 a.m.

-Which brings us to our next point, she has been waking up more than she has in her life.  Like more than when she was a newborn!  Between teething, the flu, an ear infection, and severe diaper rash it's been a long month!  We're used to 13 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  I know, poor us.  She may be prepping us for babe #2, since I hear we will never get a sleeper like Pearl again.

I call the above photo, "Baby Hangover."
She also got a new swimsuit, I'm in love.

She is obsessed with anything electronic.  She loves trying to plug stuff in, which is scares the crap out of me. We have had to cover all of our outlets after she blew up my cell phone charger after plugging it into the outlet.  She is constantly trying to "plug" stuff together.

She is still obsessed with food...
And gets madder than mad if you take it away from her.
Not safe^^^
She chews on everything.  Does teething ever stop?

Her hair just keeps getting curlier.  Dreams do come true you guys!
If you've ever given us a Christmas card or photo of you or your kids, Pearl is learning your names.  Everyday we say, "hi" to photos of our friends and family.
This photo is terrible and you may've already seen we have a little jaws on our hands!  Pearl successfully chewed the top off of her bottle.
Her gateway to the outside world... The Doggie door.  She loved looking out of it and I used to let her, until one day she crawled out into the snow!
She is a weird little towel face but she keeps things lively around our house:)

If The Shoe Fits...

A couple of months ago, I posted here about Pearl's abnormally wide feet.  I compared them to thick Teddy Bear feet, and now I'm feeling as if I wasn't too far off.  Olivia let us borrow her Build-A-Bear's ruby slippers and they were a perfect fit! (P.S. We had just drove 12 hours through the night which resulted in all of us looking homeless.)
The 1 1/2 inch heel killed me.  So funny.
And even funnier was to see how well she could walk in them.  I might need to head to the Build-A-Bear store to pick up some more Teddy Bear heels.  I hear from AnnaBelle they even have some cute leopard print??
If the extremely wide Teddy Bear heels fit, then wear it!

Big Tex Turns 28

Danny turned 28 on January 22nd.  He's pretty cute, huh?
After he got home from Home Depot, Pearl was ready with a birthday hug and presents.
We had a nice day relaxing and going out to lunch.  A couple of days before his birthday he went snowboarding with Roman and was in heaven:)
We celebrated with his family the Sunday before his birthday.  His birthday night we celebrated with my family and had a little party.
My second try at German Chocolate Ganache for the week.  I made one for his Sunday party and one for his actual birthday.  Both tasted pretty good, but weren't as easy on the eyes.  I don't know how my mom does it!
It was fun to have Ryan and Stephanie over for his party too!
Grandma Phyl with Bay and Pearl.  I'm sad we didn't get Brig in this!

 Texas Roadhouse Rolls.
5 Cheese Mac N' Cheese, seriously soooo good.
And the legendary Ricker Ribs! My dad and I made over 50 lbs!
 Rhett captioned this, "Granny Oakley."
Danny's cowboy hat was everyone's favorite prop for the night.
He got em' out easy.  The loud, "Yee-hah" he yelled out before he blew, probably gave him the strength necessary.
 Minus that pesky trick candle:)
It was a really fun night hanging out with everyone.

Seriously, I have some really beautiful cousins.  All of them!

Thanks everyone who came to his party!
I love this guy so dang much!  He is my best friend and I'm so lucky to have him.  Awesome husband and dad! He works so hard for me and Pearlie and is always trying to do nice stuff for me.  Plus, he's hot.
Happy 28th Birthday Big Tex!

A Poppyseed.

Rumor has it we are going to become a family of four this Fall!  I know this is so premature to tell people.  It's embarrassing really, but we told our family about 20 minutes after the "plus sign," showed up on our home pregnancy test and from there, the cat was out of the bag!  It seems as though the things that are meant to be kept "secret" get spread even faster.  I guess everyone was going to find out sooner or later, but usually isn't it supposed to be later?  Either way we are so dang excited to have another little one running around!
It still doesn't seem real to me because, besides feeling tired, I feel great.  Last week there was a night I slept 11 HOURS STRAIGHT.  I thought it seemed strange and hoped I didn't get mono from a drinking fountain or something.  Does anyone else worry about stuff like that?  I don't have mono, but a tiny poppyseed sized baby growing inside me.  Still tiring!  I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks with Pearl. I didn't believe it, until the next day at work I threw up 6 times.  So maybe when I start vomiting regularly I will feel like it is more real.

Brutus seems indifferent about all of the news.  Probably because he is a dog.
Hands down, Danny was the most excited out of anyone.  It makes me so happy to see him so happy and excited.  He has not stopped talking about or texting me about our little poppyseed.  And he wants me to tell you all,
"Let it be on Record, that I, Daniel Scott Elder (who was also right about our first child) declare that our second newborn baby will also be a red headed baby girl."
SO there you have it folks.
(But I still say blonde baby boy:)
The second most excited person we told was the Ricker.
Baby Elder is due on his birthday.  Awesome right?
Since I hate my favorite things when I'm pregnant (chocolate, diet soda, perfume, people.., just kidding about that last one. People are cool.) I chose to indulge the day I found out.  This resulted in a half pound of See's chocolate and a Diet Mountain Dew from Hart's Gas Station.  And maybe a few too many squirts of perfume.
And how crazy that this little pumpkin head is going to be a big sister???
It's just weirding me out.
A baby in 2012 and 2013.
We will have two kids, twenty months apart both in diapers.  Things could get crazy 'round hurrrrr.
Bring on the fun, little poppyseed.
