9 Projects Under $4.23

In my history of shopping my motto has always been "Quantity over Quality." I think I inherited this from the Ricker who is always wheelin' and dealin' to get a bargain. I never thought to shop any other way, that was until I met my husband who has had to deal with my ridiculous amount of clothes. Its true I can NEVER pass up a good deal, even if Im not in love with my purchase. My defense was, even if I wear it once I get my money out of it right?? Well that is usually what happens I wear it once and then hold on to it FOREVER. Danny is trying to break this terrible habit. His motto is if you really like something save your money and buy it. I have been attempting to adopt this principle lately. I am proud to report I was doing good until recently Roxanne and I found something too good to pass up.

A few weeks ago Roxanne and I were at Old Navy when we noticed a lot of cute shirts for dirt cheap. The only set back was they were all sizes XL and XXL. I asked Rox, "What can we do with these? They are just SO cheap??" She told me to "Keep walking" so I tried to forget about them. We kept looking around, but the whole time those shirts were in the back of my mind taunting me to buy them. Persuading questions kept entering my mind, "What if you gain weight soon?" or "What if you ever get Prego? These shirts could be very comfy." Before long I was back at the shirts picking out my favorite colors and patterns. I have taken in men's shirts to wear to work before, Who said these were any different? So I had made up my mind...I would take in the shirts. So I bought nine of them:) Eeeeee.
Now that I had 9!!! projects to work on, it was clear my work was cut out for me. I have had the nastiest cold and decided I was sick of my homework and wanted to work on something else. By the way, sewing is great if you're stuck inside:) So in about 2 hours I was done with my pretties. I am really excited with how they turned out.
I even had some left over fabric to do some pinwheel roses. Cute huh?
Boldie had to be in the next two pictures:)
Cute huh? Now I just need to find a place to put them!

So now you all know my boring story of how I got myself into 9 projects for only $4.23. I guess its okay to have a relapse every now and then:)

Good Job Rach, I am proud of you. That is pretty amazing, and all of those shirts are so cute. It's hard to find ONE shirt for $4.23, I am very impressed!

Sounds like my husband and I!... And let me tell you, I think the best maternity shirts are regular clothes two sizes too big. They may take a little bit of tweaking, but you seem very capable! Very cute, and awesome deal!

HAH I totally laughed out loud when I read this, Rach. I am actually pretty sure I saw the same shirts on sale and was like.. get real angie... you'll never wear 'em.

So I just passed them up! What a fool I was.

They did turn out cute. Maybe you should try marketing your skills to Old Navy. They would probably love to find a way to make money off those shirts they can't sell.

Thanks everyone for your comments! Its fun to hear from you guys. Ash, I just bought the shirts a couple sizes too big and then took them in about 3 inches on both sides. So I didn't really have a pattern. It was super easy though!

That's GENIUS. I've taken stuff in before, but for some reason never like this. You're an inspiration.
