Penina

I cannot believe sweet Pearl is 5 months old.  She is my little angel baby.
When Pearl was 10 weeks old I had to go back to work to get the rest of my maternity leave and it was so hard to leave her.  It was just a week!  I have gained a different level of respect for working moms.  I stared at a picture of her pretty much all day wishing I could kiss her chubby cheeks.  I was lucky enough to have my mother in law Pam and my mom watch her for that week.  I knew she was in the best care, but it was weird how much I missed my little Pearl.  It was fun to see some of my friends at work again and to actually get dressed up everyday, but I was really glad when that week was over.  Anyways, one of my friends at work had just moved to Utah from Samoa and he has a baby girl 3 days younger than Pearl.  I loved talking to him about our babies.  He told me that Pearl in Samoan was, "Penina."  I loved it.

 Penina, isn't it pretty?
She really is our little Pearl.  Our white, round ball of cuteness.

The Penina's Percentiles...
Height:  25%
Head:  60%
Weight: 75%
Do you love it?
 A few updates on Pearl:
-She still sleeps through the night like a champ usually between 8-12 hours.
-She is getting better at holding her own bottle.
-She is moving a lot more than she used to.  It is getting so hard to change her diapers because as soon as I put her on her back she tries to get away from me.
-She can take her pacifier out of her mouth and put it back in.
-She cries every time she has to go in her carseat. You'd think she got stung by a bee or something.
-She LOVES to get thrown in the air.
-She LOVES when you blow on her face.
-She is always scanning the room trying to get anyone to make eye contact with her so she can smile.
-She loves singing time in Primary.  She babbles the whole time.
-Baby Einstein is her crack cocaine.
-She can scoot forwards on her belly to get to stuff.  It kind of looks like a messed up army crawl.  I'm guessing eventually this will turn into a normal baby's crawl?  Hopefully?
-She loves to roll over and play with her toys.
-She is still super smiley but I think she is starting to know who her mama is.  A couple of times, right after she has woken up, if I'm not the first face she sees, she starts crying.  It's only happened a couple of times, the first time to Uncle Roman.  It was pretty hilarious because I made Roman hold her (He is uncomfortable holding babies as it is) and she looked at him so weird and started screaming.  Roman said, "Leave it up to me to make the happiest baby in the world cry."
It seriously shocked me because the day before we were at City Creek and a homeless man with 2 teeth got uncomfortably close and was all up in her face talking to her and she couldn't smile big enough for him.  So for the most part she is still the smiliest baby around.

Happy five months!

These pictures are BEAUTIFUL Rachel! In Spanish she'd be Perla. I decided everything sounds pretty in Spanish, but I'm thinking Samoan sounds pretty too! In our branch all of Clara's nursery leaders call her Clarita and I love it. :)

I love her flower headband too. Did you make it?

Penina is so cute! Those are all great pics. I can't believe all that she is doing, I love that she can control her own pacifier.
